Tea is a delicious drink that can be enjoyed in many ways.
From brisk black tea at breakfast to a fragrant herbal cup after dinner, every type of tea blend has its own character and its own moment. In this guide we look at eight blend types, how they taste and when to enjoy them.
1) Green Tea Blends
Green tea is made from unoxidised leaves, which gives a fresh, grassy and sometimes gently sweet cup. Blended with fruit, flowers or citrus it becomes bright and lively. Brew it at 75–80 °C for 2–3 minutes and enjoy it in the morning or early afternoon.
2) Black Tea Blends
Black tea is fully oxidised, which gives it more depth, more aroma and a fuller body. It contains more caffeine than green tea, so it is a classic morning choice. Enjoy it plain, with milk or as iced tea, and try spiced or citrus blends for variety.
3) Wellness Tea Blends
Our wellness blends are built around distinctive ingredients: green tea with fruit and citrus, Greek mountain herbs, rooibos and warming spices. Each has its own flavour profile, from crisp and citrusy to sweet and spiced.

4) Mediterranean Tea Blends
Mediterranean blends bring together ingredients from Greece and the wider Mediterranean, such as Greek mountain tea, sage, thyme, citrus peel and mastiha from Chios. They taste of sunlit hillsides and long summer afternoons, and many are naturally caffeine-free.

5) Herbal Tea Blends
Herbal blends combine herbs, flowers and spices, and contain no tea leaves at all, so they are naturally caffeine-free. With endless combinations, from minty and fresh to warm and spiced, they are ideal for the afternoon and evening, hot or cold.
6) Fruit Tea Blends
Fruit blends of dried apple, berries, hibiscus and citrus give a colourful, sweet-and-tart cup that children and adults alike enjoy. Caffeine-free and excellent as iced tea on summer days.
7) Rooibos Tea Blends
Rooibos, sometimes called red tea, comes from a South African bush and is naturally caffeine-free. It has a smooth, honeyed and slightly nutty flavour that pairs beautifully with vanilla, orange, cinnamon and nuts. Lovely at any hour, hot or iced.

8) White Tea Blends
White tea is made from young buds and leaves that are simply withered and dried. It gives a light, smooth and delicate cup with soft floral notes. Brew it gently at 75–85 °C and enjoy it with fruit or on its own.
Who are we?
We are Holy Tea, a family tea shop in Amsterdam with Greek roots. Our blends are imagined by Greeks in Amsterdam and made in Greece, inspired by the herbs, spices and slow afternoons we grew up with.
Conclusion
You don’t need to be a tea expert to enjoy tea blends. Choose the type that suits your taste and the moment: green or black in the morning, Mediterranean or fruit in the afternoon, herbal or rooibos in the evening. The eight types above are a good place to start.
